Therapy for Adolescents

Individual Adults    Children    Adolescents    Seniors

As a parent, you want your teen to be happy, socially engaged and successful in school, but adolescence can be a particularly challenging time in life. Teenagers need to cope with rapid hormonal changes, a desire to fit in, peer pressure, and rigor at school. You and your teen won’t always be able to see eye to eye. You want to help, but your willing support may go unnoticed, or even worse, be rejected.

Our adolescent therapists can serve as a knowledgeable, objective party, who can help your teen sort through this new territory in life. If you feel that your teen could benefit from the support of a therapist, we want to help.

Some concerns our adolescent therapists can help address:

  • Dealing effectively with peer pressure
  • Problems with family transitions (separation, divorce, relocation)
  • Behavioral problems (excessive anger, acting out, eating disorders)
  • A significant drop in grades
  • Excessive school absenteeism or tardiness
  • Episodes of sadness, tearfulness, or depression
  • Social withdrawal or isolation
  • Being the victim of bullying or bullying other adolescents
  • Alcohol, drug, or other substance use
  • Sexual, physical, or emotional abuse or another traumatic event
  • Learning or attention problems (such as ADHD)

If you are wondering if therapy might be helpful for your teenager, please call us. We look forward to talking with you.
