Change is inevitable in our evolving society, in our relationships, and across our lifespans, regardless of whether we want some of those changes to occur or not. Exploring the thoughts, feelings, and impacts of the changes in our lives can create space for holding multiple truths at one time, even when it is painful or challenging.
I approach therapeutic work psychodynamically, recognizing that our relationships profoundly shape us, through communication, emotions, and the interpersonal experiences that have brought us to this point. I also hold in mind the various contexts and systems my clients engage with, as they can have an integral influence on our functioning, just as relationships do. When relevant, I integrate mindfulness strategies to honor the body and the nervous system as these carry us through life. I work collaboratively with my clients to help them define and amplify their voice, as we work together to we navigate the winding paths ahead. I hold the Tree of Life as a powerful symbol, viewing therapeutic work as a way to assist my clients with grounding into one’s foundation, as well as assisting them with clarifying their values and strengths, allowing for reflection on the growth potential on the expedition of life.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree from UC Berkeley in Rhetoric, where I cultivated my passion for language and finding meaning. After raising three fabulous humans, I returned to school to study psychological science to learn about meaningfully supporting the healing process. In the Bay Area, I have worked in several agencies supporting survivors of interpersonal and complex trauma. I completed my doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology. Across academic, clinical, and professional roles, I have worked with individual adults, adolescents, families, couples, and parents across the developmental stages. My work is trauma-informed with a strong social justice focus.
In our work together, I aim to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and understood. In this space, we can explore changes as they come up for you, reflect on the roots and early experiences that have shaped you, and to connect with the trunk that holds your core strengths and values. From that grounded place, your branches can grow in meaningful directions as you reach toward your full potential.
